A Columbus, OH-area contractor with annual revenues of about $240 million has decided to expand to the Indianapolis area.

The company plans to partner with local subcontractors and is recruiting for new positions. Corna Kokosing Construction Co. has opened an office near Indianapolis to be closer to clients there, Columbus Business First reports. President Josh Corna said the firm studied about eight locations and settled on Indiana’s capital, where it has clients including Honda, Rolls Royce and NexCore Group.

“Part of our strategic plan was to look to expand geographically,” Corna told the Columbus publication. “We actually opened it up a little ahead of schedule. We had planned a late spring opening, but we were working with a potential client and were able to land a couple projects over there that accelerated our growth plan.”

Regional manager David Rossi will run the Greenfield office, about 25 miles east of Indianapolis, with five employees there.

Corna Kokosing, founded in 1956 as Corna & DiCesare Builders and which joined the Kokosing Construction Company Inc. network in 1995, will share space in Indiana with its Westerville-based parent company, the business publication reported.

“We pursue separate jobs. The office they have over there is really focused on treatment plant work,” Corna said. “We’ll essentially have two separate offices. It doesn’t really have to do with working together.”

Corna has worked on high-profile projects such as the Greater Columbus Convention Center renovation, and generates the majority of its construction jobs within a 100-mile radius of the Ohio capital. It is based in the suburb of Wrightville.
