Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb has announced $150 million road funding grants for local governments across the state.

The funds come through the Community Crossing grants program, approved by the state assembly in 2016 to support local road funding. Under the program, the state matches the funding contributions from cities and counties, with the state contributing 75 percent of the costs for smaller communities.

In the program’s second year, the state will send $150 to almost 400 county and local governments — representing a 48 percent  increase in applications this year.
