Vectren Corp. has announced plans for two big energy projects in Indiana that would create nearly 1,000 construction jobs.
The company is planning to build a $900 million natural gas-fired generation plant and install a 50-megawatt solar plant boasting more than 150,000 solar panels on nearly 300 acres, Inside Indiana Business reported.
Vectren filed an application with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission for approval to construct the natural gas plant in Posey County.
The gas plant is expected to be operational by 2023 and will create up to 700 construction jobs and 35 full-time positions once online.
Meanwhile, the solar farm, which will cost up to $75 million, is expected to be operational by 2020 and create up to 250 construction jobs.
