Construction begins on new fire station in Center Township

Construction has started on a $2.4 million fire station for Center Township, according to a report from Herald Argus.

The 12,000-sq. ft. station, located on eight acres along the south side of Johnson Road just west of the Indiana Toll Road, will replace the existing facility, which was built in 1958.

The existing station, at 305 W. Johnson Road, will probably be demolished and the lot eventually sold.

The new facility is designed by DLZ Indiana, which is the township’s architect and engineering partner. Larson-Danielson Construction is the construction contractor.

The project is expected to be completed in December.
