Ivy Tech reveals $43M construction plans

Ivy Tech Community College recently revealed plans for $30 million of new construction downtown and a $13 million project at the Cowan Rd. campus in Muncie, The Star Press has reported.

The downtown campus will include a $17.2 million Downtown North Building to be constructed on the site of the former Star Press building, which will be demolished, at High and Main streets, across High St. from the MITS bus station. The new structure will house the culinary arts program, including Chesterfield’s Cafe and a chocolates laboratory, along with administration, testing and assessment, advising and enrollment services.

Another $13.1 million will be invested into new construction for the School of Advanced Manufacturing and Technology Engineering to combine all technology-related majors on the Cowan Road campus. The site will prepare students for high-demand careers in manufacturing, welding, robotics, HVAC, automotive and construction.

Work could start in May, with completion anticipated in January 2020.
