$25M in bids awarded for new Jasper Elementary School project

Base bids for the upcoming Jasper Elementary School project were officially awarded at a recent Greater Jasper Consolidated Schools School Board meeting, reported Dubois County Herald.

The cost of the construction and various pieces of equipment — not including alternate bid specifications that are still being discussed and soft costs that will add to the final cost — is around $25.79 million.

Danco Construction of Evansville will be the building’s general contractor at a price of around $16.29. The school’s mechanical and plumbing bid package — which included the purchase of various pieces of equipment — was picked up by H.G. Heinz Inc. of Vincennes at a cost of about $5.79 million.

Weyer Electric of Ferdinand will complete electrical work at the building, including the installation of an emergency generator and fire alarm system, at a cost of around $2.71 million.

Central Restaurant Products of Indianapolis will supply the school’s kitchen equipment construction for $650,676, while Geyer Fire Protection of Indianapolis will complete the fire protection work for $349,750.

Now, the board will take the alternate bids under advisement and hopes to discuss them at its next meeting on May 21.
