Caterpillar plans to invest $73.6M to renovate Lafayette facility


Caterpillar plans to invest $73.6 million its facility in Lafayette.

According to a report by Construction Equipment, Caterpillar ha submitted a document to the Lafayette Redevelopment Commission, disclosing the company’s plans to renovate its Lafayette Engine Center (LEC).

The document shows that the company has plans for building improvements, IT software, machinery, and equipment for the LEC.

The Chicago Tribune reported that the renovation should take place through 2021 and will add 125 new jobs.

The Lafayette City Council has approved a 10-year tax abatement for Caterpillar, according to WLFI.
