Indianapolis-based Performance Services will soon break ground on the new, $15.1 million Tipton County Jail and Sheriff’s Administration Center.
The design-builder is expected to complete the nearly 36,000 sq. ft. facility in about 13 months. The jail will have 80 beds, compared to 27 in the current jail. It will also include an elevated control room with 360-degree visibility of inmate housing and intake/booking, as well as a public area and sheriff’s office.
“Goals for this project are many, with effective stewardship of taxpayer dollars a top priority,” the contractor quoted Tipton County Commissioner Mark Manier as saying. “I’m confident that the functional aspects of this facility meet Tipton County’s current and anticipated future needs for the safety and security of our citizens, Sheriff’s Department and jail staff.”
The contractor expects to complete the project by September, 2019.
