Officials have broken ground on a new hospital in La Porte.
The new 200,000-sq.-ft. hospital will cost about $125 million. The investment is part of a $140-million commitment made possible through the La Porte Hospital’s affiliation with Community Health Systems in March 2016.
The general contractor will be Robins and Morton of Birmingham, AL.
“Robins and Morton is an award-winning healthcare facility construction firm that has a solid history of incorporating the local community into the projects they lead,” hospital CEO Ashley Dickinson said in an earlier statement. “Our expectations for the new La Porte Hospital are high, and we feel good they will help us deliver on them.”
The project includes a helipad and surface-level parking and is designed to replace the current facility, which was opened in 1972.
The new structure is expected to be completed in 2020.
