Construction of new high school begins in Hammond


The School City of Hammond is starting construction on a new building on the old high school’s grounds, NWI Times reported.

The 417,000-sq.-ft. new high school will offering housing for both Hammond High and Eggers Middle School students. The building will be on the west side of the original high school in the location of the football field, according the published report.

The new school will have multi-functional rooms, with gym spaces that can house state tournaments. The current school will be demolished and the space will be used for build a new baseball field and parking lot.

The $84 million project is expected to be completed in fall 2021.
