The Kokomo Board of Public Works and Safety received bids on Jan. 30 for a project to improve Kokomo Municipal Stadium.
The board received two bids, including one for $451,700 from Indianapolis-based Shook Construction and another for $491,905 from Monroe Construction based in Kokomo. The Kokomo Tribune reported that board members took the bids under advisement.
Stadium improvements will include a new scoreboard to be located on the press box; audio improvements in the outfield and entry areas; and extended canopies on the concourse.
Work is expected to be completed in time for the Jackrabbits’ first home game, on May 30.
Other improvements include extending the first- and third-base canopies located on the stadium concourse, behind field-level seating sections. VIP table seating is situated underneath the canopies during Kokomo Jackrabbits games.
