Wanting to get the word out about the importance of the construction industry, the Construction Advancement Foundation of Northwest Indiana (CAF) is starting up a program of short radio features.

Broadcasts will air under the banner of “Building Northwest Indiana Radio” and will run on Lakeshore Public Radio (89.1 FM) every Tuesday at 7:23 AM (Morning Edition), during the 12 PM hour (Regionally Speaking), and at 4:21 PM (All Things Considered) starting August 6th on Lakeshore Public Radio – 89.1fm.

“Building and Construction is an integral part of the northwest Indiana economy, but not many people can really comprehend the size and scope of what contractors and skilled labor do for the region,” said host Kevin Comerford, CAF director of professional development.

“We hope to give listeners the opportunity to learn about the construction industry, career opportunities, the projects we build, and how we transform the region and improve the quality of life in our communities.”

Hosted by the CAF leadership team of Dewey Pearman, James J. Arendas and Comerford, the program will feature guests discussing an array of topics on current and future construction projects that are shaping the region, as well as public policy initiatives affecting construction and career opportunities in the field.

James A. Muhammad, president, and CEO of Lakeshore Public Media, sees this on-air effort as a partnership that promotes the region’s commitment to economic innovation in new business and with some of its most iconic manufacturing industries.

“The data shows that Northwest Indiana is continuing to grow,” said Muhammad.  “That says a lot about our values, our Midwestern work ethic and what we have to offer.”
