Construction on a terminal expansion project at the Fort Wayne International Airport (FWA) could begin in 2021, The Journal Gazette reports, citing airport officials.
Scott Hinderman, executive director of airports for the Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority, said that designing work of the renovated facility could begin in December.
He expects construction could start in early 2021.
The expansion project would grow the terminal from about 100,000 sq. ft. to about 147,000 sq. ft. It calls for better circulation around ticketing areas and new machines that will be used to screen checked luggage.
The project will cost an estimated $35 million.
