Indiana’s construction industry saw big job growth year-over-year


Indiana’s construction industry has added nearly 10,000 jobs year-over-year, according to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.

Quoting the state agency, Inside INdiana Business reports that a year-over-year increase of 9,800 ranks Indiana sixth in the nation in the number of construction jobs added during the 12 months ending in September.

According to DWD Commissioner Fred Payne, construction was outpaced by the private education and health services sector, which added 18,500 jobs within the 12 months.

Indiana’s unemployment rate in September dropped to 3.2% and remains lower than the national rate of 3.5%.
