PPMI Construction in Evansville has closed.

“Evansville Water & Sewer Utility director Allen Mounts said he received an e-mail from his deputy director of engineering notifying him of PPMI’s closing.” the Evansville Courier & Press reported on July 21, adding that PPMI has completed several projects for the utility over the years.

An individual whose cellular phone number on the PPMI phone system was listed as the “Indiana superintendent” told Indiana Construction News on July 28 that he could not comment on the closure. He said the company has started selling off its assets since the closure without notice to its employees. The former superintendent said he took a new job with another business on July 27.

The Courier & Press spoke with the family of a former employee of PPMI, who said staff members were gathered and notified Friday that the company was closing effective immediately. The family requested anonymity.

PPMI, incorporated in Indiana in 1986 is a pipetrades and mechanical contractor with headquarters in Evansville. It has another office in Nashville.

On July 28, while the PPMI website was still alive and the phone system worked, calls to both Nashville and Evansville numbers during business hours led to the same after-hours voice recording saying that the company was closed.
